Reducing engine Power directly contributes to reduced exhaust contaminants. This morphed ejector/TR system is literally a “greener” machine. The ejector surrounds the engine exhaust nozzle to induce the ambient air flow into its chamber causing the flow to mix with the engine's higher velocity exhaust flow. This mixing reduces noise. Additional noise reduction is realized by reducing the engine power setting to the desired thrust levels for Takeoff, Climb and Approach. This hybrid MD80 pod modification comes much closer to the performance of newer engine designs with higher BPR in terms of reduced SFC, reduced operating costs, airport noise and noxious contaminates generation.
