Dugan Kineticss

TECHNOLOGY

Following an initial flight test of the concept in 2006, adapted to a heavyweight, re-engined 727F with MD80 - styled pod engines, an extensive CFD study was conducted to more fully understand this nacelle installation. After 12 months and 30 separate case studies, the dynamics and mechanics of morphing the reverser into an ejector were fully understood.

The conclusions of these CFD trials were further substantiated by flight testing of recent ejector performance measurements on similar pod installations. A unique difference here, is that this ejector also functions primarily as a thrust reverser.
