Following an initial flight test of the concept in 2006, adapted to a high gross weight, 727F with MD80 - styled pod engines, extensive CFD studies were conducted to more fully understand this nacelle installation. After 12 months and 30 separate case studies, the dynamics and mechanics of morphing the reverser into an ejector were more fully understood.

The conclusions of these CFD trials were further substantiated by flight testing of recent ejector performance measurements on similar pod installations. A unique advantage here, is that this ejector also functions primarily as a thrust reverser.
